The Irrepressibles

THE IRREPRESSIBLES
"MIRROR MIRROR" SPECTACLE UK TOUR

The Irrepressibles are the pop-meets-art project of composer and artist Jamie McDermott. Their 'Mirror Mirror' spectacle is a dark, mirrored fantasy inside which the 10-piece performance orchestra play and move like an extraordinary flock of marionettes.

Bringing to life the music from their debut album 'Mirror Mirror' The Irrepressibles take the audience on a transfixing journey where visual and musical worlds collide. Debuted in February 2010 to a full house at the Queen Elizabeth Hall (London) the spectacle has toured to all major European capitals, culminating in 3 consecutives dates at the Palais Royal, Paris in August 2010.

Choreographed by McDermott the orchestra respond directly to his music as they play within unique costumes, interactive set designs and lighting installations. Together these elements and the David Lynch-esque pop songs create something between fantasy and performance art. As if to turn Andy Warhol's work on its head, The Irrepressibles are a pop music project that aspires to become art. 'Mirror Mirror' is presented in collaboration with London fashion designer Rachel Freire (http://rachelfreire.com).

Formed in 2002 the Irrepressibles have created bespoke performances for the Victoria & Albert Museum, the National Portrait Gallery, the Roundhouse in Camden, the Hackney Empire and for several years the lake and forest at Latitude Festival. This will be their first tour of UK venues.

The album 'Mirror Mirror' was released in January 2010 on Major Record Label through V2 /Cooperative. Mixing European orchestration with pop melodies and soaring cathartic vocals, it is a theatrical, playful and passionate record. From the dramatic opener 'My Friend Jo' to the galloping rhythms of 'Anvil' and the yearning echoes of 'Forget The Past', 'Mirror Mirror' is a superbly constructed sonic exploration of McDermott's confessional stories. Love, anger, lust and loss signpost the journey through The Irrepressibles' mystical and theatrical world.

A fantastical machine of mirrors, movement and music not to be missed.
